The Rookie’s season 7 teaser introduces new recruits – and fans are saying the same thing

The Rookie has just released a new teaser for its highly anticipated seventh season, and it’s got fans buzzing with excitement and speculation. The teaser kicks off by revisiting key moments from the past six seasons before giving a sneak peek at what’s ahead, including the introduction of two fresh faces in the LAPD.

In this new footage, we meet the new recruits, Miles (played by All American and Shameless alum Deric Augustine) and Seth (played by theater actor Patrick Keleher). They are introduced in a humorous locker room scene with seasoned officers Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and John Nolan (Nathan Fillion).

“Are these the academy’s finest?” Nolan asks, to which Bradford replies sarcastically, “Negative. These two were scraped from the bottom of the barrel.” With a mix of sarcasm and sincerity, Nolan welcomes the rookies by saying, “Welcome to the crucible, gentlemen. I look forward to learning your names if you survive the week.”

Miles, a two-year veteran transferring from Texas, seems confident in his abilities, while Seth, who initially appears to be the ideal officer, struggles with making quick, decisive decisions—a skill that’s crucial in the field.

As fans gear up for the new season, many are hoping for a “Chenford” reunion, referencing the beloved on-screen relationship between Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil). After their emotional breakup in season six, viewers are eager to see if they’ll find their way back to each other. “Lucy and Tim back together? Because that’s one of the only things that will make it worth it,” one fan commented, while another echoed, “Justice for Chenford.”

Hints about the Chenford storyline were dropped during the show’s panel at Comic-Con in San Diego. Eric Winter teased that his character, Tim, is determined to make amends with Lucy “in different ways” after their split. In a previous interview with HELLO! Magazine, he shared more insights, saying, “We’ll see them pick up in a place where they’ve shown that they care about each other, and now they have to figure out, ‘Can we give each other space to do our job and allow our feelings to stay in a safe place but not rush anything?’”

The new season is set to air in 2025 with a refreshing twist—episodes will air in a continuous run without any breaks. Eric Winter admitted he was initially “nervous” about this format but now believes it’s for the best, especially during an election year when TV schedules can get chaotic. “There would be too many gaps, and the fans don’t love that. So they’re really trying to put us in a lineup where we can give eight episodes in a row with no interruption,” he explained.

With the new recruits, unresolved romances, and a fresh format, Season 7 of The Rookie promises to deliver drama, action, and all the heart that fans have come to love. Stay tuned!
