‘Young & the Restless’ star mourns loss of leading man: ‘I adored him’

Melody Thomas Scott, most known for her role on the popular soap opera “ The Young & the Restless,” shared a heartfelt post after hearing about the death of her former castmate, Wings Hauser.

Fans of the soap opera might remember Hauser, as he played the role of Greg Foster, the first husband of Scott’s character, Nikki Newman. Hauser died on March 15. He was 78 years old.

In a March 21 Instagram post, Scott said the two loved working together.

“Am so sorry to learn of the passing of my dear friend, Wings Hauser,” the post reads. “We would walk over to Farmer’s Market together every morning to have breakfast at Dupar’s. With his script for that day always rolled up in his back pocket, I would laugh at his belief that he would learn his lines through osmosis. But it always seemed to work! We shared many powerful scenes.”

Scott also said that she felt as though Hauser showed her the ropes. The two actors developed a friendship over the years of working together.

“He was so talented,” the post reads. “He would bring his children, Cole and Bright, to my house on weekends and have a blast. I had the joy of spending time with his children and getting to know his family, while working closely with him at the studio every day.”

As confirmed to Variety by Hauser’s wife, Cali Lili Hauser, the “Vice Squad” actor died of natural causes in Los Angeles, California. In an Instagram Post, Lili Hauser said her husband was “one of a kind,” as his career spanned 58 years.

“Born in Hollywood, proud Academy member and prouder son of Academy Award-winning writer, director, producer Dwight A. Hauser and loving mother Geraldine T. Hauser, Wings Hauser’s one-of-a-kind, legendary career spanned 58 years in movies, TV & music working alongside many of the greatest artists in the industry and earning their respect,” the post reads.
