Casualty airs unexpected and devastating death as character is killed off

There was heartbreak and devastation on the cards for Rash Masum (Need Mohan) after he received news of dad Ashok’s (Kriss Dosanjh) death.

It’s been a tough couple of years for F1 doctor Rash, who – as viewers know – has been trying to look after Ashok, who has been living with dementia.

Things took a shocking turn in the latest offering of the popular medical drama, which is already available to stream on BBC’s online service iPlayer, with a particularly testing day for Rash ultimately ending in tragedy.

Ashok locked himself in his room and proceeded to be abusive towards Rash, with Rida Amaan (Sarah Seggari), who has been helping look after Ashok in recent weeks, encouraging Rash son to take some time away from the situation.

Rash took her advice and headed into work, despite the fact that it was his day off, where he found himself in yet another difficult situation, treating a patient named Wyatt (Joe McGann), who proved difficult to diagnose.

Rash believed that Wyatt might have Ebola and, given that he’d been in contact with him, he was forced to quarantine.

Back at home, Rida discovered that Ashok had gone missing – and the front door was open. After failing to locate him, she raced to the hospital to reveal that Ashok had vanished, with Dylan Keogh (William Beck) subsequently bringing in a patient that had been hit by a bus.

Sadly, it was Ashok.

Rash, who was already starting to question whether he misdiagnosed Wyatt, was devastated and broke down in tears, subsequently lashing out at Rida, ordering her to leave.

It was confirmed last week that Rash’s cousin Tariq Hussein, played by Killing Eve star Manpreet Bachu, will arrive in the show later this year.

‘Joining BBC Casualty is both an honour and an absolute privilege,’ said Manpreet.

‘I’m thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show, the warm welcome and love from everyone has made this experience truly amazing. I can’t wait for the fans to witness Tariq’s unique journey unfold.’
