1000-lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton bitten by camel and arrested as she breaks down

1000-lb Sisters sensation Amy Slaton has finally opened up about her harrowing experience after being arrested at a zoo.

The 37 year old TV personality endured what can only be described as a disastrous trip to Tennessee Safari Park last summer. After suffering a camel bite and being whisked away on a stretcher, she found herself in handcuffs at the zoo, facing allegations of drug possession and child endangerment.

According to TMZ, law enforcement officers took Amy into custody when they discovered substances like psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her car. The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department reported that their response to a call about Slaton’s animal bite was quickly overshadowed by the strong smell emanating from her vehicle.

Both Amy and her companion, Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was behind the wheel, were apprehended on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs and two counts of child endangerment. Amidst the drama, Amy has voiced her anxiety over potentially being confined in a trailer for the upcoming seventh season of 1000-lb Sisters.

Amy recounted the distressing moment on camera: “After the whole camel biting incident, the cops came in and started reading my rights,” alongside her mugshot flashing onscreen. She quipped, “They should be handcuffing the damn camel.”

In an emotional scene, Amy confronts her family for what she perceives to be an “intervention” regarding the ordeal. “This is not supposed to be an intervention,” she insists, but despite her family’s denials, she remains convinced, asserting, “It’s sounding just like an intervention to me.”

Her brother, Chris Combs, warned her with grave concern: “If they throw the book at you, you’re looking at 30 years.”

To which Amy confessed: “I’m scared s***less,” and expressed her fear: “I just hope I don’t ruin my whole life.”

In a plea deal last December, Amy admitted to two counts of drug possession, resulting in reduced charges to simple possession and dismissal of child endangerment charges. Both Amy and Brian entered guilty pleas for drug charges and received two years of supervised probation.

During the debut season of 1,000lb Sisters, which aired in January 2020, viewers saw Slaton tipping the scales at over 400 pounds. Following gastric bypass surgery, she shed an impressive 136lbs, bringing her down to 275lbs.

Tammy, Amy’s sister, is also fighting her own battle, this time against nicotine addiction, as she prepares for skin removal surgery. She shared her feelings, saying, “I’ve come so far in my weight loss journey,” but admitted, “but now I have even more insecurities about my body because I have so much loose skin.”

Love is also in the air for Amy, who excitedly revealed: “I met a man,” and described their whirlwind romance: “We’re moving so fast, but yet it just makes sense.”

Following her astonishing 13-stone weight loss last year, Amy felt “blessed” After parting ways with Michael Halterman, she faced challenges but sought support from an online mental health service tailored to clients’ needs.

The marriage between Slaton and Halterman came to an end in 2023 after a tumultuous divorce. The couple initially eloped in 2017 and later celebrated with a wedding in 2019, which fans witnessed on the beloved TLC show.

The couple parted ways less than a year after Slaton gave birth to her son Glenn Allen in July 2022. She also has another son, Gage, born in November 2020.

The new season of 100-lb Sisters is set to premiere on April 15.
