Barney Walsh has been cast in ITV’s upcoming series The Larkins alongside his father Bradley Walsh.
The series is a new television adaption of H.E Bates’ The Darling Buds Of May books, which were previously made into a popular TV series in the early 1990s.
The new show was announced in December last year, with Bradley confirmed to play patriarch Pop Larkin.
ITV have now shared new casting details that confirm Barney will star as PC Harness.
Other cast members announced on Wednesday include former Doctor Who actor Pete Davison as the Vicar, This Is England star Kriss Dosanjh as Brigadier and Fresh Meat‘s Tony Gardner as Alec Norman.
The father and son have also featured in their own show Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad for three seasons.
Barney has previously acted in Doctors and Law And Order and had a role in Guy Ritchie’s 2017 film King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.
Joanna Scanlan will play Bradley’s onscreen wife Ma in The Larkins, while the role of their eldest daughter Mariette has gone to Bridgerton‘s Sabrina Bartlett.
The characters of Pop and Ma Larkin were made famous by David Jason and Pam Ferris in the previous adaptation, with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Mariette.
Set in the 1950s, the series will follow the Larkins, their six children and their escapades in the Kent countryside. While kind-hearted and good natured, the family have a disinterest in authority.
As in the previous adaption, The Larkins will follow the romance between Mariette and city accountant Cedric “Charley” Charlton (Tok Stephen), who arrives in the village to investigate the Larkins’ tax affairs.
