If we were to describe Lily’s journey with a classic slogan, it might be, **”You’ve come a long way, baby!”** It’s almost hard to believe that the strong, modern career woman we see on screen today is the same character who started as a rebellious teenager in 2002.

Lily’s Early Days:
Christel Khalil first stepped into the role of Lily on August 15, 2002, and her initial portrayal of Lily was as a bit of a bratty teenager. Even after all these years, Khalil vividly remembers her first day on set. **”I remember it so clearly,”** she says. **”I was working with Victoria Rowell, who played Drucilla, and I was so nervous.”**

Khalil recalls how exciting it was to work with iconic actors like Rowell and the late Kristoff St. John (who portrayed Neil). **”It was all so fast-paced, and I wasn’t used to that,”** she shares. But stepping into such a loving and supportive on-screen and off-screen family made her experience much easier and truly special.

How Lily Has Grown:
So, how has Lily evolved over the years? Khalil believes that those early rebellious years actually helped her character grow into the confident woman we see today. **”Despite her being rebellious, she was loved and respected,”** Khalil notes. That unconditional support helped Lily develop a strong sense of self.

Now, Lily knows exactly who she is and what she brings to the table. She’s no longer that uncertain teenager but a powerful and self-assured businesswoman.

 Reflecting on Cain’s Influence:
Of course, we can’t talk about Lily’s growth without mentioning the impact that her relationship with Cane Ashby had on her life. Khalil admits that while the relationship had its ups and downs, Lily learned valuable lessons that have served her well ever since. **”With Cane, it was less about communicating and more about reacting,”** she explains. They spent so much time trying to make the relationship work that Lily couldn’t really focus on her own personal growth.

But as they say, **”That was then, and this is now.”** Lily is in a much healthier and happier place these days. **”She’s grown, and she’s in a much better headspace than she was even a few years ago,”** Khalil smiles.
