Barney Walsh’s glamorous life from famous girlfriend to soap role

Bradley and Barney Walsh will host the new series of Gladiators, but this isn’t the TV stalwart’s son’s first taste of fame.

ITV viewers will be a fan of Bradley and Barney’s on-screen chemistry after the success of their hit travel show Bradley and Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad. The son of the Saturday night TV star has been on screens for years now, with five seasons of their travel show having aired so far.

However, this isn’t Barney’s only TV credit, with him following in his father’s footsteps last year after landing a role on BBC drama Casualty. In spring 2023, Barney joined as accident-prone nurse Cameron, a new edition who struggled adapting to the fast-paced emergency department.

Barney has several acting appearances to his name including as a young Arthur in the Guy Ritchie film King Arthur: Legend of The Sword, while also starring in The Larkins alongside his father and as a guest star in BBC’s Death of Paradise. He has also appeared in Doctors and Law and Order.

Although Gladiators will see Barney host alongside his dad for the first time, he has plenty of presenting experience under his belt. The budding actor has worked as an ambassador and presenter of the Miss World pageant since October 2017.

His work with Miss World is also how he met his girlfriend Stephanie Del Valle Diaz, a Puerto Rican musician and model who was crowned Miss World in 2016. It’s believed they met while taking part in charity events as part of the Miss World Beauty With A Purpose initiative.

Barney and Stephanie are very private about their relationship, but the couple appeared to confirm their romance in 2019, when they stepped onto the red carpet at the BAFTA TV Awards together. The happy couple were pictured alongside Barney’s parents Bradley and Donna Derby.

The couple haven’t been pictured together recently, but as both stars keep their personal lives private on social media it’s not clear whether they are keeping their relationship under wraps or whether they’ve parted ways.

Meanwhile, Gladiators viewers will be well aware of Barney’s famous dad Bradley, who hosts The Chase and Blankety Blank amongst other shows, but his mum Donna’s also has a showbiz past. Donna is a choreographer and former professional dancer who shot to fame in the late eighties when she was picked to star in Robert Palmer’s video for his 1988 hit Simply Irresistible.

She has also appeared as an actress and dancer in several TV shows, including The Kenny Everett Show and The Russ Abbot Show, and for two decades has worked as both a choreographer and judge for the Miss World beauty pageant.
