1000-Lb. Sisters: See Amy Slaton’s Family Intervention After Drug Arrest
Amy Slaton‘s arrest is weighing heavily on the rest of her family.
In fact, the 1000-Lb. Sisters star’s inner circle, including siblings Tammy Slaton, Amanda Halterman and Chris Combs, staged an intervention for her in the season seven trailer of the TLC show.
“We need to have a discussion,” Amanda sternly told Amy in the video, released March 25. “The problem is every time somebody tries to talk to you, you want to jump up and storm off.”
However, the 37-year-old was not having it. “This is not supposed to be an intervention,” Amy retorted. “This sounds just like an intervention to me.”
But her family had every right to be concerned. As Chris pointed out to his sister, if the authorities “throw the book at you, you’re looking at 30 years.”
Amy was arrested for illegal possession of controlled substances and child endangerment in September, when authorities found marijuana and illegal mushrooms “in plain sight” inside her car at a Tennessee zoo, according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies were called to the scene after Amy—who shares kids Gage, 4, and Glenn, 2, with ex-husband Michael Halterman—was bitten by a camel during a safari tour. Upon arrival, deputies said they smelled marijuana coming from Amy’s car, prompting them to take her and boyfriend Brian Scott Lovvorn into custody.
In the trailer, Amy called the ordeal “the worst day of our lives.”
“After the camel bite incident, the cops came in and started reading my rights,” she recounted. “They should be handcuffing the damn camel.”
Ultimately, she and Brian struck a plea deal and were sentenced to two years of supervised probation, as well as ordered to attend pay a fine and attend an alcohol and drug assessment.
And, as seen in the trailer, Amy appeared to be sticking by her man’s side. As she put it, “We’re moving so fast, yet it just makes sense.”
Season seven of 1000-Lb. Sisters premieres April 15 on TLC.
