9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Trailer Previews High-Octane New Episodes While Seeming Addressing Cancellation Rumors

The trailer for 9-1-1: Lone Star previews the show’s high-octane return, while seemingly addressing cancellation rumors. With a cast that includes Rob Lowe, Ronen Rubinstein, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael L. Silva, Julian Works, Gina Torres, Brianna Baker, Kelsey Yates, and Skyler Yates, the 9-1-1 expansion examines the lives of the police, fire and ambulance departments working at Company 126 in Texas. 9-1-1: Lone Star season 5 is on track to continue that story with new episodes later this year, though it may be the last.

Though the trailer previews the high-octane adventures ahead, it also refers to the drama’s uncertain fate. Lowe’s lead character, Owen Strand, assures: “This isn’t the end. It’s just the opening act.”

What’s Going On With 9-1-1: Lone Star?

The Show Is Losing An Original Cast Member & Reportedly Won’t Be Renewed

The majority of the main cast are said to be under the assumption that the series is coming to an end, following two unsuccessful contract negotiations, and some are looking for new job opportunities.

Back in June, it was reported that original cast member Sierra McClain was exiting 9-1-1: Lone Star ahead of season 5. It’s unclear how McClain’s departure is handled given her centrality to the spinoff, playing the original character Grace Ryder, who is married to Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack). The news comes after another cast member, Robyn Lively, wrote in a now-deleted social media post: “So excited to be a part of @911lonestar’s final season!! What a ride it’s been!”

A more detailed report about the fate of 9-1-1 Lone Star mentioned that most signs point to season 5 being the final chapter. The majority of the main cast are said to be under the assumption that the series is coming to an end, following two unsuccessful contract negotiations, and some are looking for new job opportunities. Representatives for Fox and 20th Television, the spinoff’s producer, had no comment.

Coming off of the 9-1-1 Lone Star season 4 conclusion, the spinoff will have a lot to wrap up if it is indeed ending. Since the initial reports of a possible cancellation, however, network executives at Fox and cast members have only commented that their focus is on delivering satisfying episodes after the delays resulting from the writers’ and actors’ strikes. Based on the latest trailer, at least, there’s no doubt about that.
