9-1-1 Season 7 - Official Trailer (ABC)

After airing a successful shortened season this past spring, ABC renewed 9-1-1 for an eighth season a few days after celebrating its 100th episode in May. The Season 7 premiere earned 11.8 million multiplatform viewers in its first week, making 9-1-1 the most-watched ABC current series across all platforms last season.

In a statement, Disney Television president Craig Erwich praised 9-1-1 as “one of the most defining and original dramas on network television,” adding, “It’s a privilege to keep 9-1-1 in the family with 20th Television producing, and we look forward to telling more heart-racing and uplifting stories about these beloved characters on our air.”

When Does 9-1-1 Return For Season 8 On ABC?

9-1-1 Season 8 will return on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. New episodes will stream the next day on Hulu and Disney+.

How Many Episodes Will Be In 9-1-1 Season 8?

ABC has not yet confirmed the episode count for 9-1-1 Season 8, but it is expected to be a full season. Season 7 was shortened to 13 episodes due to delays from the now-resolved writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Who Is In The 9-1-1 Season 8 Cast?

Most of the 9-1-1 Season 7 cast is expected to return for Season 8, including Angela Bassett as Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Bobby Nash, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz, Kenneth Choi as Chimney Han, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson and Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Buckley.

Eddie’s son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh), will likely return next season. At the end of Season 7, Christoper caught his father cheating on his girlfriend Marisol and asked to move back to Texas with his grandparents.

However, Guzman told TVLine back in May that in the first episode of Season 8, viewers likely won’t see Eddie and Christopher together. “My hope is that Eddie has a good portion of time without Christopher, which would allow him the opportunity to find new structure, maybe rework who he is a little bit and find new textures of life for him,” Guzman explained.

Season 7 also welcomed the return of Tommy Kinard (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), who rejoined the team to aid with a major rescue.

What Will 9-1-1 Season 8 Be About?

The next season of 9-1-1 picks up after the dramatic Season 7 finale, where Bobby, who survived a coma, tries to return to Station 118, only to find his spot taken by former Captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson), who came out of retirement. Their feud is expected to escalate in Season 8.

“Gerrard holds a grudge against Bobby because he, of course, took over the firehouse after Gerrard. So I’m wondering if there isn’t some sort of conflict and some skullduggery behind the scenes that Gerrard is up to,” Krause teased in an interview with The Wrap after the Season 7 finale.

Krause added that Season 8 will likely follow his character as he tries to regain control of Station 118. “I did resign, but I didn’t think necessarily that the paperwork went through. We don’t get to say all that in the scene,” he continued. “But now (showrunner Tim Minear) set up this situation where Bobby has to now somehow regain the captainship of the 118, I’m not sure exactly how that’s going to play out in Season 8, but I’m confident Bobby will prevail.”
