Maisie Smith was seen giggling when she stepped out wearing a plastic rain hood as while on a date night with her boyfriend Max George in Manchester on Thursday.

The former EastEnders star, 23, and the Wanted singer, 35, who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020, appeared in top spirits as they arrived at Gordon Ramsay‘s Lucky Cat restaurant.

Maisie didn’t let the bad weather rain on her parade as she accessorised her look with the sheer plastic travel hood.

She paired her practical accessory with a striking red leather jacket and some cropped bootcut jeans.

To finish her colourful look, Maisie wore a sheer hot pink top, some gold ballet flats and slung a black leather bag over her shoulder.

Also dressing practically for date night, Max stepped out wearing camouflage cargo pants, a black hoodie and some white chunky trainers.

Their loved up outing comes after Max and Maisie ruled out working together again after  a ‘ropey’ audition for a major stage show.

The pair are set to play a married couple in Jeff Wayne’s musical version of The War Of The Worlds, which will tour in 2025.

The duo auditioned together as a couple, with Max joking during a Good Morning Britain interview: ‘First time we’ve ever done that… probably the last! It was a bit ropey in parts, but in the end, we got there.

‘We’re buzzing! We can’t wait, it’s going to be so good!’ He added: ‘Honestly, we’re so buzzing for it!’

The musical will be coming to 17 major UK arenas next March, and not-so coincidentally celebrating 130 years since the release of the original HG Wells novel.

Jeff said: ‘Being a couple in real life will add to their on-stage charisma and chemistry. Maisie has such a melodic but powerful voice, which compliments Max’s dramatic and soulful vocals wonderfully.’

Maisie moved in with Max early last year and the pair have been busy refurbishing their dream home ever since.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Maisie spoke about her excitement about living with Max and dismissed concerns over their 13-year age gap.

She said: ‘If it wasn’t that, it would be something else. People don’t understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship.

‘I think they also forget that I’m a consenting 21-year-old woman who’s actually been working longer than Max!

‘I don’t notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family. My mum Julia is the one who reads through all the comments.

‘I got a message from her yesterday, saying: “Just ignore them, you two were made for each other”.’
