BBC Casualty cast list: Who guest stars in Downfall?

Casualty’s mini-series Storm Damage continues with more famous faces welcomed for its latest episode.

Season 39 of the iconic BBC medical drama is well underway with the eighth episode of the mini series coming out on Saturday, August 17, at 9.10pm.

The synopsis for this latest instalment reads: “Junior Tariq Hussein’s future hangs in the balance, consultant Stevie Nash’s guilt grows as clinical lead Siobhan McKenzie falls to pieces at work and Jacob Masters is determined to break the cycle for his son Blake.”

As well as the usual suspects, a couple of guest stars will also be welcomed into the fold for Casualty’s Downfall.

David Nellist

The first of the two additions to Casualty for Downfall is actor David Nellist who may be remembered for starring in the drama 55 Degrees North as Mr Humby.

Some of his other parts have been in Breeze Block, The Bill, The Omid Djalili Show, Sherlock, A Confession and Archie, just to name a few.

One of his most recent roles was a few weeks ago in EastEnders as Ronan, the Alcoholics Anonymous group leader at a meeting attended by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

Details of what his character is like haven’t come out just yet but according to his IMDb page, his name will be Arthur Spicer.

Simon Sherlock

Nellist will be joined by actor Simon Sherlock in Casualty’s Downfall who will be behind Owen Mickelthwaite so is believed to be a relation of Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh).

One of his biggest and earliest roles was in the series Soldier Soldier as a character called Mel Briggs.

Since then, Sherlock has had parts in other hit shows like Doctors, Call The Midwife, Cradle To Grave and In The Long Run.

Earlier this year, he portrayed Daniel in an episode of comedy Breeders with actor Martin Freeman.

Storm Damage is the sixth Casualty box set in the new mini-series format which began in January 2023 with In Plain Sight.
